Some mods or plugins add useful resources that can be accessed using a web browser. This could be a web world map, a stats page, or an additional control panel. This article explains how to configure such services on Aternos.
If you simply want to add a web map to your server, you can follow this article: Add a web map to your server
Configuring your web service
While the exact configuration depends on what mod/plugin specifically you are using, the basics are the same for everything.
Port
The web service needs to listen on the correct port. For your default server address (example.aternos.me), this needs to be port 80.
Only one service can listen on port 80, so you cannot use more than one mod/plugin that hosts a web service at the same time with only your default server address. See custom domains if you have to run multiple services.
Protocol
The service must be configured to use the HTTP protocol. If the mod/plugin has built-in support for HTTPS, do not enable it and stay on plain HTTP. Aternos handles HTTPS support for you automatically.
Proxy options
If the mod/plugin has an option to specify that it is running behind a proxy, enable that option. Aternos is using a reverse proxy to accept incoming requests and forward them to your server.
Custom domains
Aternos allows custom domains to your server. You can read more about this process here: Custom domains/server IPs
Instead of just pointing to port 80 like your default server address, each custom domain can be pointed to a different target port. This way, you can have multiple web services at the same time and use a different domain for each one.
Configure the domain
To set a custom port, click the port number on the domain entry and enter the port you'd like to use.
Configure the web service
Once you have set a custom port for a domain, configure the web service mod/plugin that you'd like to use on that domain to use the port you chose.
Accessing web services
To access a web service, simply enter the server address or custom domain in your web browser (e.g. https://example.aternos.me). You do not need to specify a port.
Aternos automatically handles HTTPS connections for you, so you and your players can have a secure connection to the service.
