To use special server commands like /gamemode and others, you need to be a server operator (OP).This article explains how to give a player OP status through our interface or using a command.
Grant a player operator rights
To grant a player operator rights, you need to add them to the OP list. On Aternos, you can easily do this on the Players page. Simply navigate to the Players page and click on "Ops." Then, enter the username of the player you want to give OP access to.
That's it. You can now use cheat commands like /gamemode on your server. Repeat this for every other player, you also want to grant operator rights.
Grant a player operator rights through the console
If the first method doesn't work for you for any reason, you can try to OP yourself using the console. Start your server, then go to the console page and enter the following command.
/op example (Replace "example" with the player's username)Please note that if your server has cracked enabled, this way might not work correctly. That's why it is recommended to OP players using the players page.
Adding a Bedrock Edition player with GeyserMC
If you are using the Geyser plugin to allow Bedrock Edition players to join your Java Edition server, and you want to OP a Bedrock player, add '.' as the Geyser prefix in front of their name like this:
Additional steps for Bedrock Edition servers
For Bedrock Edition servers, make sure to enable "Allow Cheats" on the options page.
If it's disabled, you have to enable it and restart your server afterward.
Additionally, the default OP permission level on Bedrock Edition servers is 1, so some special commands like /reload can't be used even by operators. To change this, increase the "OP permission level" option in your server.properties file.
Enabling cheats on a Minecraft Bedrock Edition server disables the ability to earn achievements on that server.
